Edmonds Christian Church

Journeying With God

About Us

Role and Mission Statement

Edmonds Christian Church is called to be an inclusive learning community that seeks to journey with others and with God. Individually and collectively, we work toward a deeper, more committed relationship with God. As a welcoming community, we walk the path of prayer and justice, and work to understand God’s vision for creation and help to bring it into being.

Statement of Faith

We proclaim that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and accept Him as our Savior. We believe that all are equal in God's eyes, and that God loves all without condition. By loving others, we experience God's love, and through us, God's love is reflected to the world. We claim our Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) heritage of diversity within Christian unity: because we are all ultimately accountable to God, we respect differences of opinion and accept all people as children of God. In our Biblically grounded tradition, it is the right and the responsibility of each individual to interpret the scriptures with the light of experience, the support of our Christian Community, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Our Guiding Vision

Core Beliefs of Edmonds Christian Church

True to our Disciples faith heritage, we are responsible for our own beliefs and behaviors. Following Paul’s teaching we believe that a faith community provides a place for each of us to work out our own salvation, but in the company of others.

So, we agree to disagree in the context of accepting and loving even those who are different. We accept our enemies. We care for and protect one another even when we have different beliefs.

We freely confess that we don’t have all the answers, but we also know that we are called to be ambassadors for God. We’re called to reflect God’s love and invite people to renew their friendship with God. We believe that every person already has the spark of God within them. However, some have come to doubt that spark in themselves, and we are called to help them rekindle the spark.

As individuals we need to grow in our ability to express our faith to others. As a faith community we need to grow in proclaiming our openness and identity to the larger community, and we need to find better ways to serve our local community.

We are called to be an inclusive learning community that seeks to journey with others and with God. All are welcome!
